Sound Engineer & Music Producer

THE COMPANY:
We are a London based independent music and video production studio known as Doctor Mix. We provide online music mixing, mastering and production services to artists and labels across the world. We also produce video content for the Doctor Mix Youtube channel for our B2B clients.

We have a fun and dynamic team of professional creatives who operate from our state-of-the-art production studios. Our studios are fitted with exciting audio & video technology, modern and vintage synthesizers & drum machines, and analogue mixing equipment.

THE ROLE:
We require a talented and enthusiastic Sound Engineer & Music Producer to join our team of industry professionals. The candidate should have professional audio experience and be suitably prepared to produce and deliver finished mixes in a wide variety of musical styles.

The successful candidate will know how to operate professional audio equipment such as hardware & VST sound processors, DAWs, and be used to Windows PC workflows. Good organisation and communication skills, as well as excellent written English, will also be expected.

The ideal candidate will have extensive musical understanding including knowledge of harmony, ability to play an instrument, and familiarity with arranging concepts and general musicianship.

This role calls for a person of collaborative spirit, polite manners, easy-going personality and professional attitude.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparing and executing mixes for our clients and our in-house music production
- Mixing audio for our video projects
- Communicating with clients, maintaining a good relationship and delivering a final product tailored to their requests
- Operating and maintaining Windows PCs, keeping them updated and running smoothly
- Setting up microphones, recorders, and instruments for our filming sessions
- Assisting the team in day-to-day audio needs
- Reporting to the supervisor and executing specified production requests
- Keeping the workspace and audio equipment tidy and presentable

SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Proficient on Steinberg’s Cubase
- Competent Windows PC workflow
- Use of digital and analogue sound processors
- Ability to deploy pro-audio mixing techniques: gain staging, bus routing, compression, equalisation, and more
- Knowledge of microphones and sound recording practice and technology
- Good vocal comping, editing and manual tuning
- Excellent communication and written English
- Great organisation, planning, and scheduling
- Easy-going personality and polite manners

OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Knowledge of harmony and rhythm
- Ability to play keyboards or other instruments
- Can produce beats and arrangements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience mixing music at a professional level
- Qualification in audio engineering, music production, or similar field

  • Music production: 1 year (preferred)
